x-listinn, Islands direktdemokratiska rörelsen

Hej allihop.

Vi har fått en spännande kontakt med x-listinn, en direktdemokratisk politisk rörelse på Island. Jag kommer att träffa en av deras representanter nu på torsdag (26:e feb 2009) här i Malmö. Jag skriver mer alldeles strax om vad detta möte kommer att innehålla och kommer även att rapportera om vad som sagts. Vi kommer träffas fler gånger så det kommer finnas gott om tid för oss alla att delta i denna kontakt med idéer och frågor. Lite kort notis just nu dock inför det första mötet.

Magnus fick email från en Daði med en förfrågan om samarbete och kunskapsutbyte med x-listinn. Deras träffmöjligheter var Stockholm och Malmö. Eftersom jag är bosatt i Malmö fick jag vidare förfrågan om jag hade möjlighet. Träffarna kommer förhoppningsvis kunna ske 1 gång per månad i Malmö.

På torsdag ska jag och Daði ha en enkel träff där där vi skapar initial kontakt. På agendan ligger förslagsvis följande:
- Ta reda på varandras politiska agenda
- Skapa kontaktvägar
- Etablera vad som får föras vidare från samtalen till detta forum samt till deras offentliga informationskanaler.
- Politiska strategier
- Dela kunskaper om valsystem


Tydligen ska de satsa på utveckling av ett valsystem. Det ska bli spännande att se vad det är. Jag är inte tillräckligt insatt i våra egna utvecklingsförsök för att ge en rättvis bild, men jag ska göra mitt bästa.

Från vår sida anser jag att allt jag säger gärna får förmedlas fritt vidare i deras offentliga kanaler. Någon för/emot? Om någon särskilt hemlig strategi någon gång skulle yttras (vilken mig veterligen inte finns eftersom allt ändå diskuteras öppet i forumet) så ska jag den gången säga till att detta hålls hemligt.

Har lyckats bli sjuk i sista stund. Sitter uppe i miserabel oförmåga att sova.

Mötet blir inte av. Men jag hoppas han medtycker att träffas om 1 månad då han åter är i Malmö. Tills dess vill jag påbörja kunskapsutbyte via email. Man kan väl sätta igång i alla fall?

I have collected some information that I'm happy to share already now.

Story
First I can tell you some of the story of the political party Aktiv Demokrati.

Aktiv Demokrati has been registered as an organisation since 2004 but the group existed also before. I didn't get connected with Aktiv Demokrati until 2006 so I'm not familiar with the full story of the party. The forum and the homepage has existed since early 2006. Aktiv Demokrati has only a few active members but quite a few passive members. 2006 we got 81 votes for the national elections. To active members I count people working with evolving the party, debating and voting in the forum, writing in our blog, trying to recruit new members etc.

However, we are positive and believes that whenever we come up with a really effective way to spread or ideas we will quickly grow much larger.

Strategies
The main ways to reach more voters are currently via internet:
- Information on the homepage.
- Writing on the blog.
- The forum, discussions with new people interested in the party.
- Actively comment and debate on internet on political issues and referring to our political party as a possible alternative to look into.

The main problems with our recruitment is the lack of time for our active members and that we are very spread out in the country and that we don't have any working group anywhere that could support eachother and more effectively arrange physical activities such as having political meetings, hand out material and discuss with people on the streets etc. And that we don't have a working voting system that could demonstrate the power of debating, delegate votes and vote online. Our small size and the radicality in the political ideas does make many people sceptical.

E-democracy systems
We have looked at many voting systems. We have even done some serious attempts to implement our own systems and to test out other e-voting systems and set them up and further develop them for our needs. However, this has been done by 1 or 2 people with works or studies on the side, and the projects have been to vast and not reached any stage that could be used for real purposes.

We wish to very open in all our activities. Hence I relay this email to you also on our forum. And we try to make sure that the contacts to x-listinn is not private to me.
- Me and Magnus already have your email. Can I share contact information to a limited trusted group so that the contacts remain safe to the party and is not dependent entirely on me? You'll be notified who these people are and will be given their contact information as well. And if you could give some other contact except yours it would also make the contact ways more safe.
- Can I relay your email answers and what we say when we meet, regarding information about x-listinn and general direct democracy tips/ideas, to our political forum? I won't relay secret strategies or any personal greetings etc.

Where do you stand ideologically? Do you have any established political agenda or are you all-the-way "purists" - all political wings are included into your vision of direct democracy? It is not important, we are just curious.

It would be very interesting if you could tell us something about x-listinn and your activities.

There is no left or right wing in direct democracy in our view. We are
polishing our agenda, but it will not be available for some time... we are
just beginning.

Bör vi formalisera hanteringen av den här typen av kontakter samt andra uppgifter som man inte kan posta på forumet?

Jag tror vi kan ha kontakterna själva i såna här lägen, de flesta liknande organisationer finns ju på nätet och det borde vara möjligt att hitta dem via resp hemsida, iaf lite senare.
